MUSIC: FUCK 12 x SHAWN PARKER
Shawn is one of the younger talents to have caught our eye over the last year. He was on the Soundwaves Vol 1 and helped it get its only press look via HotNewHipHop with the help of his Coze camp of which he is the first artist. His banger 'Open Season', a fairly simple yet very effective mantra with an incredibly captivating beat courtesy of DJ_DJ of :30 and an awesome visual directed and edited by the infamous PHX made quiet the splash. Enough of a splash that we have been waiting for more from Parker. In between then and now we were able to catch Shawn perform during a THRAXXHOUSE event and his performance was pretty impressive - maybe a little talkative in areas that weren't necessary but he unleashed a heat rock that evening to make up for it. He performed Fuck 12 for the first time and provided the crowd and terrible venue (The Crocodile is a terrible venue) with energy that had hands in the air and feet leaving the ground. The only time that would happen again in the night was during Larry June's 40 Glocc.
It wasn't until a few days ago that 'Fuck 12' was released by Parker and his Coze camp as the lead single for an exciting split project feature Shawn and Keon of :30 entitled #FREEKEON. The tape will host 4+ songs that Shawn and Ke recorded before he went behind the wall. There's one of there that is going to set the streets ablaze - again. Not only have the people been waiting to hear Keon again new or old but his presence on the song 'Savages' is flawless and Shawn's cadence is the tightest that we've heard from him outside of 'Fuck 12'. Look out for the FREEKEON tape posting to his soundcloud some time later this month.
