Black Owned: Only Oatmeal Cookies

If there was one healthy thing that came from the pandemic it’s the business that were able to bubble to the surface with everyone out spending their stimulus to stay sane. Black owned Only Oatmeal Cookies was one of those companies. With the blessings of staying open on our side months into the pandemic we decided the smartest thing to do was find a way to give back. Benefit T-shirts are something we love to do when the opportunity makes sense. It’s a chance to market our brand and pay it forward all in the same motion. We sold the benefit Ts and then asked our Instagram and Twitter audience if they would suggest some black owned business to which we could donate the funds. Only Oatmeal ended up being one of those companies and we hadn’t even heard of them yet.

After we sent out checks to the businesses Only Oatmeal Cookies owner Karina Blasco sent us a nice size box of assorted Oat cookies with a thank you note attached. We crushed the whole box cookies in a day or two and were left in a daze wondering how we had just learned about something so delicious and black owned. Since then we have supported and seen Karina’s business grow and it has been exciting to watch people become quick fans much like we did. Last Summer she spent several third Thursdays in the Tacoma Art Museum with us while our Kinsey Collection pop up was taking place. We bought cookies every time we could. Now Karina has upped her game again, Only Oat moved into a permanent location within the Point Ruston Market. It is such a great fit for her clientele and pleasure to see black entrepreneurship represented well in that space. 5101 Yatcht Club Rd Tacoma, WA 98407

And Sunday, February 20th black owned businesses are coming together. Black owned ATB Headwear is releasing a hat they designed for Only Oat and attaching it to a special cookie one day only Daz Deal. We attached the flyer for the details.

Our favorite flavors from her selection are:

Frosted Sugar, Toffee Almond, Peanut Butter and Oatmeal Raisin
