HOTHEAD X PARISALEXA ft. LAZĀ

I have always felt as though R&B is our strong suit in the PNW. Maybe it has to do withe consistent baby making weather or the melancholy mood we get a wrap for having on a national level who really knows. For decades Seattle Tacoma and the vast PNW have been trying to find a voice again since the era of gangster rap and Sir Mix-A-Lot. But there have been artists to make strides here and there, the most recent one being Macklemore of course. Now the mainstream is finding it’s way back to making R&B pop music like the early and even mid 90’s - when we used to be able to count on those Ginuwine and Usher albums and when Joe and Case were only to be outdone bey Darnell Jones and D’ Angelo. Those we magical times - those times birthed Jaheim and black boy quartets like Jagged Edge. The list is almost endless almost - because the era surely did end. I blamed Ja-Rule then for the death and I’m giving the credit to Drake now for the resurrection. LikeItorNot.

Parisalexa has been making AND WRITING jams since she was like 15 or so. I will always reference that SVNDLAAT member and 907 brother Teddy Vespa put me on to Paris. At the time I couldn't wrap my mind around how amazing her voice was no honey or tea necessary. As time has gone on her voice still stops me from walking when I hear it in any venue but in more recent years her writing has truly blossomed into something uncanny. Her lines are quotable and the wit makes you wonder how you haven’t felt the way you feel when you hear it. It’s deep stuff. Lately she’s been on the verge of taking her talents to the main arena with writing camps and studio visits in the majors (NY and LA). So it makes sense why we are seeing her drop a bit more often with a lot more press. The wheels are getting ready to leave the Tarmac for good sooner than later. Nima Skeemz with the production lead on this one and some helping hands created the Hothead setting. Nima is another one who is leveling up like an elevator and I pray he’s going to keep working laterally with all the solid talent surrounding the scene at the moment. Lazā, who you know formerly as ‘MisUndvrstood’ or ‘Stood’ is present on this record and her prescene is always felt. Lazā like Paris is another one that can do both her writing and singing/rapping are so impressive even when it seems like she’s hiding she stands out. Her talent is so in-your-face her peer group seems to seek her out and she is yet to disappoint. This a banger for the car or the house cleaning.
