UMI'SCORNER: THE PRODUCT PT. 2 OF 3

The Gun Smoke graphic was one that immediately reminded me of the DOOM franchise and logo. I have no particular emotional investment in the DOOM series but it’s strong edges border on metal graphics I’ve loved from the past. I’m not even positive that was H33M’s reference. What I am positive about is that part of bringing back “other brands” is about adding energy and styles to the shop that we don’t design via eTceTera or even through our collaborations with brands. H33M has always filled the edgy paranormal sci-fi influenced graphics that are a part of apparel sector’s Venn diagram of design. The graphics are more vague and ominous versus our upbeat storytelling and satirical designs; the idea to have both aesthetics in-store is about showing how the two relate and that education is still very important to inject into Tacoma as the affinity for rarewear and streetwear grows here.

I desperately wanted H33M to do a long sleeve for Umi’sCorner and I love sleeve hits. Who doesn’t!! The ability to flex while layering is a gift to us all. We quickly agreed on Sonic and Mariner colorways too keep things appropriate to the region. But we didn’t want to force it so instead of being spot on with colored outlines we decided to choose flat colorways. That’s why the Mariner’s navy doesn’t have a teal accent and why the green doesn’t have a white accent like the tackle twill pullover. The yellow is definitely the heater - especially with the black and white sweat pants - just a humble opinion from the peanut gallery.
