SPORTS: What A Time To Be A Royal …
Who would’ve thought Kansas City could go at it again and actually win the world series for the second year in a row? We sure didn't, with team favorites like the Blue Jay's, Yankees, and the Cardinals all falling short of the big show the Royals started the season pretty sluggish and began moving up bats blazing, facing another under dog the New York Mets who haven’t seen a world series since 1985! From the start KC showed no mercy winning 3 games to what looked to be a clean sweep, when the Mets came to win just one of the 5 games.
So lets talk about the final hour, Game 5 Citi Field, New York, New York, 12 innings, it was looking like an easy game for New York with the 2-0 lead in the 9th but just when you could see the sliver lining coming to save the Mets, here comes Christian Colon with the run to tie the game entering the 12th inning and before we knew it Kansas City began making power plays with Eric Hosmer's bold bolt, the three run double from Lorenzo Cain and some stolen bases that's how the MLB crowned Kansas City the winner ending the series with 7-2. Meanwhile the fans will get their chance to congratulate the team on Tuesday where the parade will be held in Kansas City. But lets not get out the tissue boxes for New York just yet Pitcher Matt Harvey gave all that he had and anything he had left on the mound with eight scoreless innings it was that last pitch that really set off the end of what could have been history. Terry Collins the manager of the Mets had this to say “It didn’t work, it was my fault.” better luck next year New York and hats off to Kansas City, who played true to the saying “It's not over till it's over.”
