EVENT: TACOMA ARTS MONTH FT. SATELLITE STUDIO TOUR

Over the weekend we participated in the Satellite Studio Tour. The tour was a journey from one art studio to the next to view new and old works from artists and curators Lisa Kinoshita, Nicholas Nyland, Sharika Roland, Dion Thomas, Kenji Stoll and Chris Jordan. It was an exciting two days, opening day things got off to a late start for Dion down at the 907 but by the time the studio tour was getting heavy traffic he was present and able to help walk his viewers through each piece. Down at Minka (the retail space that houses Lisa & Nicholas's work) Lisa was serving wine cheese and chocolates and providing information to tour visitors. She is an awesome host. Nicholas was also present and although it was our first meeting conversation was easy; his work was some of the more unique on the tour. Later he took a trip down to the 907 to hang with us - we both learned a lot. The unfortunate part of the weekend was that we never made it to the other two stops on the tour, apparently Chris and Kenji's space was not the easiest to find, but we sent everyone who stopped in down to Minka or the Murano Hotel depending on which way they started the tour. It was a successful studio tour from where we are standing we heard nothing but good commentary as people came in and out of the shop. Thank you to everyone you came out and all the artists that participated, special thanks to Lisa for putting this together and making it was easy and Paula for putting together all of the digital promotional content. We're ready for next year already.
