MUSIC: CHASIN' THE MONEY X ASTRO KING PHOENIX for SOUNDWAVES III

Astro King Phoenix has been around for quite sometime. We have played his songs in the shop here and there but we became fans of his during Upstream. Seeing Astro live was all it took. What we liked most is that although Astro is very forward thinking he somehow gives us the nostalgic vibe of the quintessential Seattle emcee. Songs are filled with bars and deep concepts about the city life hustle and almost spiritual awakenings through observation of the city and the people that fill it. "Chasin' the Money" is dope because it doesn't sound like any Astro King song we've heard; his harmonies on the chorus set the tone for filling the room with smoke clouds. His bars are forever present but you can sit with this one because if there is one thing we know about Astro is his ability to make concepts into songs is consistent.
