Black Owned: Darnel's Barbells

Darnel’s Barbells is a black owned business based in Tacoma that started Spring of 2021 officially. It had been in development and operating privately prior to opening for the public but taking on new clients became the proper pivot. Owner Darnel wasn’t trying to make a business out of DB, it happened naturally and over time. Darnel has worked out consistently on a daily basis for close to 8 years. At first he was rehabbing himself, he had a back issue that he wasn’t going to let slow him down. The rehabilitation turned into routine and then a personal passion project.

Somewhere along the way he began filming his time at the gym and experimenting with some unique workouts. Many of these unique workouts involve planking or some version of keeping your core stable. What Darnel may not have known is that he was effectively gaining consumer loyalty, onlookers of his IG story were impressed with his results and wanted the same. It still took quite a bit of asking from close friends and family for him to decide he should dedicate a space and schedule to helping others achieve their physique goals. But once he did business came quick along with a full schedule. Barbells has been open for a little under a year now and there is far less filming during workouts. With a steady client list now the mission is results for all those signed up and showing up on a consistent bases. Last I checked house calls were off the list for Darnel and his Barbells business, he found that it didn't maximize his time and the group setting is a better environment for results. The best thing about Darnel’s is that it’s not just about training with him. He cares about all the moments you are not with him and he has a plan for those too. Food plans and work out regiments fit for what you want to see in the end are his specialty. Darnel’s Barbells is black owned fitness business with a hyper focus of health and stamina. Darnell never seems to be worried about his clients outdoing themselves, he’s vocal about one thing consistency.
