Black Owned: Adorned Abode

This is one of my favorite businesses in the  T, not just in the black owned category but in general. Two things make it special for me. The first being the location, the Freighthouse Square is one of the first places my eyes began to dream up retail space. I fell in love with the wooden floor and the every neighbor knows each other environment at a very young age when there was a bead store my mother frequented there. It’s one of the most Tacoman places I can think of, if it’s not a historical landmark that is a crime. The second is the type of business. Apothecary boutiques are so far and few in between, particularly ones that carry an assortment I enjoy. Scent is such a helpful part of the creative process for me and Adorned is my one stop shop for candles, cones, incense and occasional room sprays.

Adorned Abode is woman owned, black owned business. Owner Benita is has a knack for knowing what to buy and for how to curate her boutique in a way that is pleasing to the senses. Her customer services is amazing, she is as excited and knowledgeable about her product and she gets out after it often. She’s done Amazon markets, Home & Garden at the Dome, the Tacoma Night Market and she’s always passing along information and opportunities in hopes other Black owned business will utilize their resources. You can pop in Adorned and be $50 lighter in 20 mins. It’s been worth it every time though. Go support Benita and the rest of the Freighthouse Boutiques March 26th from 1PM-4PM.

MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THEIR HOURS!!!!
